Frequently Asked Questions
Upon booking a recording slot with the European Recording Orchestra (ERO), the client has accepted the following Terms & Conditions:
The client understands that the session is not secured until the payment is received.
20% VAT will be added onto the cost of the client's booking.
The client's recording slot can only be canceled for a full refund if the recording session date is no earlier than 30 days from the date a cancellation is requested. If the client wishes to cancel within 30 days of the recording session date, the payment is non-refundable.
Scores and parts must be delivered as soon as possible, and no later than 72 hours prior to the recording session start time.
Scores and parts must adhere to the standards laid out in the document emailed to the client upon receipt of payment.
The client must deliver a Pro Tools session containing a tempo map (MIDI) for each recorded piece, unless otherwise agreed.
If pre-lays will be used in the session, the client must deliver them in the standard 24 bit / 48 khz sample rate, unless otherwise agreed. The client is fully responsible for the preparation and readiness of all deliverables: Pro Tools Session, tempo maps, pre-lays, etc.
Failure to meet the scores and parts deadline listed above will result in a €350 penalty to account for rushed internal administration. In this event, session files will not be delivered to the client until the penalty is paid.
All session files will be delivered via Dropbox. Audio will be available within 24 hours of the session date. Videography (if applicable) will be available within 7 days of the session date.
The client can elect to travel to Sofia (at their own expense) to participate in the session in person.
Otherwise, the client can participate remotely in the session via video (Zoom) and HD audio (ListenTo).
The client is accountable for readability and playability of the music, and understands the orchestra will, per standard procedure, sightread, rehearse and record (unless otherwise agreed) all music at the session. The music must be professionally and reasonably engraved, prepared and orchestrated in order for the session to be successful.
Submission of scores and parts will be via the ERO Session Files Uploader, found here: www.europeanrecordingorchestra.com/upload
Additional information about scores and parts, engraving rules and house styles will be included in an email sent automatically to the client upon booking their slot.
Scores and parts must be submitted no later than 72 hours prior to the session start time.
For example, if the session is on January 20 at 15:00 EET, then the scores and parts must be submitted on or before January 17 at 15:00 EET.
If scores and parts are submitted after this deadline, a €350 late fee will be applied for rushed processing. Final session file delivery will not be made to the client until the late fee has been remitted.
On average, the European Recording Orchestra (ERO) records approximately 5 minutes of music per hour. This means that a client can reasonably expect to record:
15 minute slot: ~ 1.75 min of music
30 minute slot: ~ 2.5 min of music
50 minute slot: ~ 4 min of music
75 minute slot: ~ 6.75 min of music
100 minute slot: ~ 8.33 min of music
These are approximations and can change based on the complexity of the composer's music.
All of the shared sessions held by the European Recording Orchestra (ERO) begin at 15:00 EET/EEST. EET/EEST is Eastern European [Summer] Time, the same time zone as Sofia, Bulgaria and Athens, Greece.
Yes, clients can elect to attend their recording session in person. In this case, the client is fully responsible for all expenses and must declare their intent to attend in person with ERO personnel well in advance of the session.
Yes, many of our clients record remotely with the European Recording Orchestra (ERO). This means that the client can be in the comfort of their home or studio, while the orchestra and production personnel conduct the session in Sofia, Bulgaria. In this case, the client will be provided HD audio (Audiomovers ListenTo) and video (Zoom) connection information prior to the recording session. A paid subscription to Audiomovers ListenTo is not required.
No problem, you can email our Operations Director, Ronan Scolard, at rscolard@iamu.edu who will answer any remaining questions you may have.
